Pseudo-feminism is Real

0

Spiderman: Homecoming star, Zendaya quoted, “A feminist is a person who believes in the power of women just as much as they believe in the power of anyone else. It’s equality, it’s fairness and I think it’s a great thing to be a part of.”

What many pseudo-feminists miss out, is the term ‘equality’. That feminism is not about bringing down another gender, it’s about lifting up your counterpart. Feminism, according to Merriam-Webster, is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities.

Neha Dhupia, a gang-leader on Roadies, in one of the personal interview sessions with one of the aspirant participants, lashed out at the guy for slapping his girlfriend because she was cheating on him with five other men. Furthermore, defending the girl calling it her choice. On the other hand, if it would have been a girl repeating the act she would have been applauded on national television.

Feminism has turned into a weapon; to shame, criticize and belittle men. Some women have even resorted to charge men with false cases of dowry, rape, domestic violence, eve-teasing, etc. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, a total of 38,947 rape cases were reported in India in 2016. About a quarter of total cases i.e., 10,068 cases –women claimed it was rape on false promise of marriage.

This means if a man promises to marry a woman and is not able to live up to it, he should spend his life in prison or worse, social isolation. If the sex is consensual, then why is the burnt borne alone by the man in the relationship?

In 2015, an incident came to light, where the girl, Jasleen Kaur posted the picture of a man, Sarvjeet, accusing him of eve-teasing and use of abusive language. The guy was arrested within 24 hours. Probing the case, an eye-witness confessed to Sarvjeet’s innocence, to Delhi Police. But this has had long term implications on his life. He couldn’t find a job and as is termed as a pervert and a harasser he crosses the streets.

Men are fighting against this discrimination. The ‘Men’s Rights Movement’ is a story of this struggle. It includes the battle to fight for equal rights in government jobs, family matters such as child custody and alimony.

An analysis says this discrimination sprouts from Patriarchy similar to misogyny. There’s a famous saying, “If a man beats a woman, he is cruel. And if a woman beats a man, the man must have done something to deserve that.” People are not acceptable to the fact that a woman might do something as vicious as a false crime accusation.

Feminism is about equality. No one’s more, no one’s less. A woman doesn’t need reservations in government jobs but an equal opportunity to fight for the position.
