The health ministry has introduced new guidelines of vaccination for those who have recovered from corona virus on Wednesday. According to the recent advisory of the central government, infected person can take their jab 3 months after their recovery.
The ministry said that they had accepted the recommendations of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19 (NEGVAC). “These recommendations have been based on the evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and emerging global scientific evidence and experience,” the union health ministry added.
It has also been told that the second dose of Covid vaccine should be delayed by three months for anyone contracting the disease after their first dose. As there was no fixed gap for taking a vaccine in such situations. Individual physicians recommended a gap of two or four weeks depending on the condition of the patient.
Since the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) had recommended that those who tested positive for Covid-19 should defer vaccination for six months after recovery, last week.
Nevertheless, the Centre has announced the changes that a jab can be taken 3 months after recovering from Covid-19 as well as it is recommended for all lactating women.
