The World Vows Solidarity With India to Fight Terrorism

On Thursday, an IED blast took the lives of 44 CRPF jawans in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir. The blast was such big in magnitude that it was very hard to identify the bodies. This gruesome attack caused a huge uproar in the country, and the echoes of this uproar reached worldwide. Various nations and their diplomats have reacted on this issue and vowed solidarity with India in fighting terrorism. India also took away the tag of ‘most favored nation’ (in trade relationships) from Pakistan, which is going to hugely hurt Pakistan economically, as India can now increase the customs duties on the imported items from Pakistan in any magnitude, on its discretion. However, Pakistan is going to face a lot of setbacks from the growing international solidarity against her.

U.S ambassador Kenneth Jester was the first one to offer his condolences on this horrifying attack. He said, “The US Mission in India strongly condemns today’s terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir. We send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. The US stands alongside India in confronting terror and defeating it”. In recent times, the US has already reduced a lot of aid which was given to Pakistan, and it has created a lot of internal problems for Pakistan. Various other countries responded to these attacks. The statements are as follows –

France has always been and always will be by India’s side in the fight against terrorism in all its forms. — Alexandre Ziegler, French Ambassador to India

The government of Nepal strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir today that has resulted in the loss of many precious lives. In line with its principled position, Nepal unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and believes that such heinous acts of terrorism cannot be justified on any ground. — Nepal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Shocked and saddened to hear of the terror attack in Kashmir. We strongly condemn this heinous attack and express our solidarity with families of victims, and people and the government of India. Hope perpetrators will be brought to justice.– Tandi Dorji, Bhutan foreign minister.

I strongly condemn the brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pulwama district — the worst ever terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since 1989. I express my condolences to PM Modi and the families of police officers who lost their lives.– Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sri Lanka PM

We strongly condemn today’s attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district and express our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to the government and people of India. — Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General.

We denounce terrorism in all its forms & reiterate the need to combat these inhuman acts with a decisive and collective response without any double standards. We express condolences to families of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. — Embassy of Russian Federation.

These responses make two things clear – one, that India is in a very strong position as compared to Pakistan, and Pakistan is going to pay the price in terms of International diplomacy too. In the coming times, Indians will try even harder to lobby against Pakistan.
