The very reason for our existence, the universe was formed roughly around 4 billion years ago. And we human beings? Just for 200 thousand years! Yet we have succeeded in disrupting the balance that is so essential to life on Earth. At the beginning, our home planet earth was nothing but a ball of fire. It’s a far- far way that we’ve come from there. But we humans take it for granted, the way and the speed at which we’re exploiting the nature, that day is not far when we’ll be roaming around with oxygen tanks around our back!

If all these statistics don’t seem alarming to you or the people running this world, then I don’t know what will! The world now is driven by acquiring higher GDP, stock full of crude oil, economic stability, but all this at the expense of what? The lives of our own, we’re taking the chance of living a healthy life away from our future generations by not planning sustainably. Humanity has no more than 10 years to reverse the trend and avoid crossing into this territory life on Earth as we have never known it. We have created phenomena we cannot control.
On the brighter side, many interventions have been undertaken by organizations like WHO, UN to curb this menace. The KYOTO protocol to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.
Breathe life: Clean air. A healthy future, the campaign aims to mobilize cities and their inhabitants on issues of health and protecting the planet from the effects of air pollution.
Moreover, the Indian government has taken upon cleaner sources of energy such as the solar, wind and tidal. The solar facility in Kamuthi, Tamil Nadu, has a capacity of 648 MW and covers an area of 10 sq km, making it the largest of its kind in the whole world. Government has also been involved with the launch of electrically driven clean cars of ‘TESLA’
