In its latest announcements, the Ministry of Human Rights and Development announced the ‘Commonwealth Scholarship 2018’ tenable in The United Kingdom, for the Master’s and PhD applicants. To elucidate, MHRD announces these scholarships every year for any Indian Student who wants to study in the United Kingdom for their masters and PhD. According to MHRD’s notifications, the studies will commence from September/October 2018.
It is well known that the cost of studies in UK is quite huge, and not everyone gets the deserved amount of financial aid from the said institutions. In such scenario, this scholarship has been a boon for such students aspiring to study in the British isles. The candidates have to meet a certain eligibility criteria which includes being below 40 years before 7th February 2018, other minimum qualifications, and a certain academic merit which means getting above 60% in your graduation /post graduation for social science students. For science students the bar is kept at 65% in graduation/post graduation. The last date to apply is 7th February 2018 ( 3 pm).
The interested candidates can apply either online or through Commonwealth Scholarship Commissions electronic application system, the last date for which being 22nd February 2017. The short listed candidates will be called for further interviews, after which they’ll be selected for the said scholarship. The ministry also expects a proper English language proficiency. But it does not requires you to take IELTS. Candidates, on the condition of award, will be asked to provide evidence for a certain level of English language proficiency.
