After a crunching twelve weeks of Kabbadi, it was again the Patna Pirates who emerged as the Champions. Facing a debutant team Gujarat Fortune giants, The pirates relied on their past experience and won for a third consecutive time. It was Pradeep Narwal, the Patna Pirates’ captain who scored 24 points to take his team home with 55-38.
While Gujarat Fortune giants took the initial lead, the game was a cracker until the half-time but then the Patna Pirates sailed away with the match in the second half scoring at ease.
Gujarat’s Coach, Manpreet Singh who lead Patna Pirates to their first title in season 3 as a captain, had earlier jibed at Patna Pirates stating that If Gujarat face Patna in the finals, the match would be easy. Also pointing out that Patna’s offence is better than their defense.
This claim also fell short as Sachin Tawar was the only player who was able to break through the Patna defense. Also, Patna Pirates coach Ram Singh criticized such a statement and came out as the true winner at the end of the day.
Gujarat giants who entered the finals with a thumping win against Bengal, were thrashed in and out by the two times champions. Although in the league stages Gujarat had won both their games against Patna, but Patna had the last laugh .Pradeep Narwal finished the season as the highest raider with 369 raid points and 19 super 10s.
All and all, it was a joyous win for the reigning champions who have won the title for three consecutive years in a row now, lifting the trophy in season 3, 4 and 5. The hash tag, #Piratehamla started trending just after the match, a term that was used by Ram Mehar Singh to describe the victory.
