It will be India’s longest ropeway on the river with a total length of 2 km and it will have the capacity of carrying 30 passengers in each cable car across the river. The cable car cabins for this project have been imported from Switzerland.

This project will be a huge boost for tourism in the city also helping the native to travel from the Northern part of Guwahati to Guwahati in just eight minutes. It will cut a significant amount of time taken to travel by road. The lower terminal of the ropeway is at Kachari Ghat in Panbazaar, while the upper terminal is at Rajadwar village behind Dol Govinda Temple in North Guwahati.

Safety is the utmost priority for the project and in order to ensure passengers are safe and secure during the journey, an extra reserved line for the car has been kept which will help in case there is a technical glitch with the mainline. Now, the passengers will not be stranded in the mid-way. The operating deck of the ropeway will be on the south bank of the Brahmaputra river.
