At least 20 people were killed and nearly 100 injured after a blast in a boiler pipe at NTPC’s Unchahar power plant in UP’s Raebareli on Wednesday. Many labourers are still feared trapped around the blast site. According to sources hundreds of labourers were working at unit number 6 of the 500MW power unit when the explosion in boiler pipe occurred. Out of people injured most of them are reported to have suffered more than 70 % of burn and officials fear that death count may rise. NTPC has ordered and inquiry into the accident.

UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the workers who died in the accident.
